Appalachian

Appalachian Collections offer many flooring choices with mountain flavor, quiet beauty, and enduring strength.

Black Rock

The Appalachian Mountains, ancient before the Rockies were forced out of the earth’s molten core, have been worn and rounded into the world’s most beautiful range. Like their namesake, Appalachian Floors are as good looking as they are strong. That’s why Appalachian’s Black Rock® Collection is the perfect choice for any home, any room, any design scheme. With 5 species offering 18 different color choices, there truly is something for everyone. The 3/8” nominal thickness (8.5 mm) planks are available in both 3" and 4½" widths.

Our Cross-Locked Engineered® planks are noted for their uncompromising quality. While carpet, tile and other floor coverings just sit on the sub-floor, Black Rock® floors become part of your home’s structure and add strength as well as beauty. The finish will stay deep and lustrous, too. We are so certain that we back it with a 15-year warranty against finish wear-through. The homeowner protection package also includes a lifetime structural integrity warranty and a lifetime glue-down guarantee.

Can any other flooring match that kind of protection? When it comes to the floors in your townhouse, farmhouse, loft, ranch or mansion, you can’t find more to choose from than the Appalachian Black Rock Collection. Whether your customer’s preference is Red Oak, Santos Mahogany, Brazilian Hickory, Pecan or Maple you are sure to have just what they want. Black Rock Floors clearly are the choice of budget-conscious buyers. They come in at the price/value ratio which appeals to contractors and developers as well as younger do-it-yourselfers and older homeowners wanting to improve their homes on a fixed income.

Black Rock Plus

Quiet beauty and enduring strength. These terms define our premium line of ½" floors with Black Rock® Plus Finish protection. All planks in the collection are 4½" wide and are the result of the most advanced methods of manufacturing and finishing in the industry. With millions of microscopic aluminum oxide crystals embedded for extra protection, the finish allows Appalachian to offer a 25-year warranty against finish wear-through. Also, the Cross-Locked Engineered® construction and Eagle Tongue and Groove system assure successful installations under almost any conditions. With 5 plies and a nominal thickness of ½", these floors have the stamina to last a lifetime. This collection is preferred by discriminating buyers because its boards are truly representative of the best that Nature has to offer.

Even though Appalachian is the most innovative stylist among wood floor manufacturers, our designers realize that many times the old classics have earned their popularity for good reason. While beefed up construction and a superior finish have improved the end product, many of today’s versions feature the same warm colors, finely sanded smooth surfaces and square to beveled profiles that led to wood’s initial acceptance as the floor of choice more than half a millennium ago. The collection also includes rustic and distressed patterns, so there truly is something for every taste. With a choice of four species: Maple, Oak, Pecan and Hickory, Black Rock® Plus floors offer a total of 22 colors.

A full complement of matching moldings is available. There are reducer strips for transition from floors of differing heights; stair nosing; baby threshold; T-molding; and quarter round and wall base for vertical spaces where floors and walls meet.

Piazza

Inspired by the walled gardens common in the historic district of Charleston, South Carolina, the Piazza Collection is Appalachian’s newest introduction. Piazza adds a new sizzle to the Appalachian handcrafted series. This true rustic look is achieved through a unique hand wiping process combined with a factory distressing exclusive to the Anderson Family of Fine Hardwood Floors. Each 5-ply Cross-Locked Engineered® plank in this intimate collection has been carefully hand-crafted to produce the look of a lovingly cared for antique floor. Every board is 4½" wide with a nominal thickness of ½" (11.9 mm). They have an eased edge profile to accommodate slight variations in the surface of the sub-floor.

Add a touch of the genteel Old South to any style architecture with the right combination of color and species: Walnut, Oak, Maple or Hickory. As with all Appalachian planks the homeowner is protected by lifetime warranties for structural integrity and adhesion if instructions are followed. There also is a 25-year finish wear-through guarantee.

Time Worn

Then this product of superior engineering is protected with our exclusive Duratina® aluminum oxide satin finish. This rich, low luster finish will stay beautiful with routine maintenance and is backed by Appalachian’s 25-year finish wear through guarantee. Lifetime structural integrity and adhesive bond warranties complete the protection package for homeowners. Time Worn floors are available in three species of native American hardwoods: Oak, Maple and Hickory. With six authentic colors, there is always a combination of grain textures and colors that will be right for any room. Vineyard

Before making a commitment to engineering and manufacturing wide planks which decorators and designers were clamoring for, Appalachian technicians went to the lab for further tests on strength, stability and hardness. The problems with floors made of wide solid planks are well known and include bowing, cupping and buckling among many others. As we anticipated, Appalachian’s engineering approach assures simple and foolproof installations on, below and above grade if directions are followed. Thus the 6¼" wide Vineyard Collection was created.

The planks, with a nominal thickness of ½" (11.9 mm), feature cross-locked construction with oak or better cores, Eagle™ Tongue & Groove milling, and our low-gloss Duratina® aluminum oxide finish. This thorough attention to detail enables Appalachian to protect homeowners with lifetime warranties for structural integrity and adhesion. There is a 25-year finish wear-through guarantee. The collection was expanded for 2004 with the addition of two species, Pine and Elm in one color each, to the original assortment of Maple, Hickory and Oak. A new shade of Maple makes a total of 10 colors in 5 species.

Arid Collection

All wood is negatively affected by prolonged exposure to low humidity, some species more than others. Appalachian has selected the top performers for inclusion in our Arid Collection.

Special displays for the Arid Collection are offered by distributors serving areas with low indoor environments, including the desert Southwest, cold Northern states and Canada. Even in mixed displays it is possible to select flooring suitable for extra dry conditions. Proper selection of flooring will prevent problems in the future.
